The diversity of schools and other organizations in Lutsk creates a rich environment for a wide range of sporting opportunities and meets people's need to participate in athletic activities. Lutsk competitors have frequently represented the city proudly in sporting competitions at all levels.
There are 12 child/youth sports schools in Lutsk with 22 sports offered. 21,78 % of the city's pupils attend these schools. The best athletic facilities include the "Avangard" Stadium the central swimming pool, the sporting society "Dinamo”, the swimming pool at school № 26, and Lutsk State Technical University.
The city is represented in top competitive leagues of Ukraine by "Volyn–University” (women's volleyball), by "Luchesk–Pidshypnyk” (men's volleyball) and by one team, FC "Volyn" in the Premier League (men's football). The sports environment is enhanced by public sports associations, such as SC "Millennium”, bike-club "Temp”, FC "Volyn”, SC "Basket”, "White Rook” chess club and sporting clubs of the universities and pedagogical college. Sporting clubs are also active in all the city's schools.
Notable sporting events in Lutsk include an international swimming competition, an international girls' basketball tournament, city sports day of pre-conscription youth, city festival "Successors of Cossacks’ Glory”, "Starts of Hopes” a traditional track-and-field relay race on Victory Day, the city festival of physical culture and sport, city competitions "Leather Ball”, an international heel-and-toe walking race "Lutsk Ten”, the open city championships in chess and checkers, mass bicycling on State Flag Day, and "Starts for All” running race to commemorate the Day of physical culture and sport. At the summer games of Volyn, Lutsk athletes competed in basketball (men), volleyball (women and men), swimming, judo, kickboxing, table tennis, rowing, boxing and football. Competitors representing the city won championships of the region in chess and checkers.
Sporting events conducted as part of “Boulevard of Entertainments” on central streets and in parks are extremely popular and include a tournament in streetball, mass cycling, simultaneous games of chess and checkers and more.
