Bogdan Shyba was born on January 8, 1962 in the Yastrubychi village in Radehiv district of Lviv region.

In 1976 he finished eight-year school in the village; in 1978 he finished Korchyn secondary school (Korchyn village, Radehivsky district of Lviv region).

During 1978-1979 he worked as a locksmith in B. Khmelnitsky state farm in Korchyn.

In 1979 he began his studies and in 1984 he finished the architectural faculty of the Lviv agricultural institute. During his studies in the institute he was the prize-winner of the All over Ukraine Olympiads in German, the winner of All over Union and the participant of the UNESCO competition in architecture.

In 1984-1985 he worked as the senior engineer of the production group at the architect of Lyubeshivsky district of Volyn region.

During 1985-1992 he worked as an architect in Turiysk district of Volyn region.

In 1993-1994 he worked as a manager of organizational department of Turiysk district state administration, as a chairman of regional organization of the Democratic Party of Ukraine.

On June 26, 1994 he was selected the head of Turiysk district council, in August 1995 he was appointed the head of Turiysk district state administration.

Three times – in 1990, 1994, 1998 he was elected the deputy of Volyn regional council. From 1999 to 2002 he was the chairman of the National council of the Democratic Party of Ukraine.

In 2002-2003 he worked as a specialist in Turiysk village council.

In 2003-2005 he worked as the deputy director of the agency of regional development „Volyn'”, simultaneously on public basis – as the deputy leader of the regional electoral staff of Victor Yushchenko bloc „Our Ukraine”.

From February to April 2006 he worked as the first deputy chairman of Volyn regional state administration.

On March 26, 2006 he was selected as Lutsk City Mayor.

He is married and brings up a son and a daughter.
